EGG
Our favourite brunch in Williamsburg. Hot tip: get a side of broiled tomatoes! Also be prepared to wait on the weekends.
Bakeri
Scandinavian bakery. Try the lavender shortbread or one of their sandwiches if they’re not sold out for the day.
Sunday in Brooklyn
GET THE MALTED PANCAKES TOPPED WITH PRALINE!
The Commodore
A dive bar with great fried chicken. A Pete Wallace favourite.
Five Leaves
If you’re in the mood for something Australian, this is your spot! Hannah loves the devils on horseback.
Cheese boat
It’s a boat of bread and cheese. Go hungry.
Smorgasburg
All sorts of food trucks by the East River on on saturday morning, what more could you want? It’s normally super busy, so it is advised to go early. Hannah lived a block away from 2010 - 2013 and would go regularly. Her favourites: a pork roll with crackling and/or an Asiadog. That was a while ago though, so they might not still be there. Regardless, you will not be disappointed by all of the delicious food options!
Reunion
A delicious Israeli cafe that serves up an awesome breakfast. Hannah loves the Shakshooka and Pete loves the Yemenite Pancake!
Bagelsmith
Great bagels, right near the Bedford Stop. Pete-approved, but if you want to try his favorite bagel spot, venture to Absolute Bagels on the Upper West Side.
Juliette
Picturesque Parisian-inspired cafe with an indoor garden room and rooftop terrace. The ambiance is romantic, and the food is delicious!
DeStefano’s Steakhouse
If a good steak is what you crave, take a short uber ride to DeStefano’s for an old school family-owned steakhouse experience. Sure, Peter Luger’s isn’t far away either, but for something a bit off the beaten path, DeStefano’s won’t let you down!
Drink.
The Craic
The site of Pete and Hannah’s first date. Also the site of Hannah losing her favourite beanie in 2015.
ROEBLING SPORTING CLUB
The closest thing to a sports bar you will find in hipstery Williamsburg. This was a Bobby Wallace favorite when he used to live in the neighborhood!
UNION POOL
If you’re trying to get weird, Union Pool is the place to do it! Live music nightly and cheap beer/shot specials. Bring your dancing shoes!
SURF BAR
A bit kitsch, but this no frills beach bar features sandy floors and is a ton of fun!
Radegast hall & biergarten
If you’re craving a brat und ein maß, Radegast is a good place for you! Fun German beer hall…make sure to bring your Duolingo!
Brooklyn Brewery
A Williamsburg classic, make sure to plan in advance as it gets super busy on the weekends!
SPUYTEN DUYVIL
We’ve actually never been here, but Pete is obsessed with this bar’s namesake, the Bronx neighborhood of Spuyten Duyvil. Nevertheless, it looks like this establishment will appeal to our friends and family who have a penchant for rare Belgian beer.
Do.
Scott’s Pizza Tour
Pete is obsessed Scott’s Pizza tours. We ate some delicious pizza and learned a tonne on the Original Pizza tour. If you’ve got time to do it definitely book one in.
The Tenement Museum
If you have time to venture to the Lower East Side, we highly recommend booking one of the tours at the Tenement Museum! This museum is unlike any other: they have salvaged several tenement buildings in the LES that stood vacant from the 1950s to the late 1980s. There is no “museum” per se; the way one experiences the establishment is via guided tour. They are all excellent, and if you go, make sure to pop down the street to Katz’s Delicatessen for a hearty meal!
Brooklyn Bowl
Fancy some bowling? How about some live music? How about both, at the same time!
Walk through a park!
McCarren Park and the relatively new Domino Park are both nearby. Weather permitting, we will be gathering for some bagels and coffee in Domino Park on Saturday morning!
WANDER around brooklyn!
Probably our favorite thing, just wander around and see where the road takes you! There is so much to do, we can’t list it all, and part of the fun is discovering something new! Have fun and let us know where your adventures take you!
